Maxine's Hideaway...where magic happens...

1215 Bidwell Street off Davie. Downtown Vancouver. 604-689-8822

Just off of vibrant Davie Street and minutes away from gorgeous English Bay is the historic gem, Maxine's Hideaway (formerly Balthazar Restaurant and Lounge.) Known in the West End as a restaurant/club for dining, lounging and dancing, this recently renamed venue has added a beautiful cabaret stage and hosts live entertainment from jazz to burlesque. Reminiscent of intimate clubs in Paris or New York, Maxine's Hideaway is a perfect spot if you want to get away from Vancouver's hustle and bustle of the Granville Street Entertainment District. Quite frankly, if you're comfortable on Granville St you're probably too young for Maxine's and if you're comfortable in Yaletown thenyou're probably too boring.

This large, turn of the century, villa-style restaurant which holds up to 325 guests offers dimly-lit table and booth seating creating an air of intimacy and romance. With two separate rooms, each having their own individual ambience and uniqueness, Maxine's has something for everyone. In the main room, the restaurant has plenty of space for large parties as well as nooks and couches for more intimate diners. The restaurant offers exceptional West Coast cuisine with a Spanish flair and live entertainment on most nights. Be sure catch the Candy Girl Cabaret every Friday and Saturday at 7PM (dinner show) and 10PM (late night lounge show). The Bordello Room Lounge is a warm hang out where DJ's spin sensual sounds that compliment the character of the room, while you and your date or friends dine and groove and keep hydrated with the poison of your choice.

Things to be aware of:
- Downtown parking can be a challenge. Allow yourself enough time to arrive at the venue especially if you are going to catch a show. Maxine's does have a lot behind their building but it holds only a handful of vehicles and it is not cheap - $10 after 6PM. A few Impark lots by the London Drugs and Safeway up the street are available, otherwise there's plenty of meter parking along Davie and Denman Streets which are free after 8pm (remember to bring some change.)
- If you are not familiar with Vancouver's West End, bring the address and map with you just in case.
